Frequently Asked Questions About ACFT Scoring

The Army reviews and updates ACFT score charts periodically based on data analysis and feedback. Major updates typically occur annually, with the latest update for 2025 reflecting adjustments to scoring standards based on performance data collected across the force. Minor adjustments may be made more frequently to ensure fairness and accuracy.

Alternate event scores are calculated using conversion tables that equate performance in the alternate event to the standard event. These conversions are designed to ensure that the level of effort and physical ability demonstrated in the alternate event correspond appropriately to the standard event. For example, a 2.5-mile walk time is converted to an equivalent 2-mile run score using the approved conversion chart.

The ACFT scoring standards vary by age and gender to account for physiological differences that affect physical performance. These differences are based on extensive research and data analysis showing how factors like muscle mass, bone density, and aerobic capacity naturally vary across demographics. The scoring system is designed to create an equitable assessment that maintains high standards while acknowledging these biological realities.

To pass the ACFT, soldiers must score at least 60 points in each of the six events, for a minimum total score of 360 points. However, certain career fields, schools, or positions may require higher minimum scores. For example, combat arms MOS may require higher minimum standards in specific events or a higher overall score. Always check with your unit or command for specific requirements that may apply to your position.
